We had a good time solving world problems with the LMARS bunch during breakfast at Denny’s before heading over to the UCF Tailgate. Now that world peace and economic issues are fixed, we are heading back to the woods for some portable ops fun. Mark your calendars and dust off the rig for a good shakedown before Field Day.

Alex KK4VB will be your guide for this outing. Never know what new antenna he will bring along. First was a 20m ground plane made with hamsticks, and today he unveiled a fantastic new C Pole for 20 m that looked like the military made it!

Meet at Cracker Barrel in Sanford (I-4 and SR 46) at 0730 and around 0900 the group will move to Sylvan Lake Parkon SR 46 about 5 miles west of I-4 and operate near the lake in Picnic Area A. Look for antennas and you’ll find ’em.

Fantastic job with the new C Pole antenna for 20 m!

Even if you don’t bring a rig, you are more than welcome to come enjoy the outdoors, get ideas and even operate a bit. It is a great way to prepare for Emergency Communications situations and have a good time talking theory and the way you used to do things back in the spark gap days.

Contact Alex KK4VB if you need more info. Click his name on the left to email him!
