R U Ready?

Shake off the holiday busyness and hustle and head to the park for some QRP Portable fun! The recent shot of cooler weather may make some ops sluggish, but the Polar Bear QRP guys are just getting warmed up. So get out of your man cave and come out for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Sanford, FL at 0730 on Saturday 11 Jan 2014.

Be sure and bring your goodies that Santa brought ya to show off to the gang. Any new kits or projects are welcome to come along and strut your stuff too.  We welcome all modes and all bands to join in on the fun at breakfast and the park.

At about 0900 we will move to Sylvan Lake Park to setup for portable ops. Normally we go to Picnic Area A and Pavilion 2 by the lake where we have lots of room to spread out and put wire in the air. If you don’t like to get up early, feel free to join us in the park.

Don’t let the lack of portable gear keep you from coming out to the park. Licensed hams can take the key or mike and have some fun with our simple rigs and antennas too. It is also a really good place to find someone that loves to talk technical things and help you solve antenna or rig issues. We love to see new ideas of how to operate simply in the outdoors, so come and show us your stuff or get ideas for your next outing.

Depending on the weather and band conditions we usually thin out and head home about noon, but we have been known to make a full day of it from time to time and you’re always free to do so.

See ya on Saturday 11 Jan 2014!
