September’s Outing was well attended and we had quite a spread of rigs, antennas and even a satellite pass demo to keep us all moving from site to site. Let’s do that again.
Alex in action!
Alex had another great antenna setup and used his VNA to tweak and found ways to tweak things for a much better efficiency. Was a good learning lab for all of us and proves that a bit of applied math and testing is well worth the effort.
Propagation was not bad and we made a good number of contacts and a few rag chews with other QRP ops made it a special day for all. We’d love to have you come by and join the gang this month.
We start off with breakfast and show and tell time at 0730 EDT at the Cracker Barrel in Sanford, FL.
If you are not an early riser, you can join us in Sylvan Lake Park around 0900 EDT. We normally are in Picnic Area A but if it is reserved check Picnic Area B and C and watch for our cars, antennas and sounds of CW from time to time.
We welcome you to bring a rig and join us for Radio in the Park. CU there or on the air!

FALL? In Central Florida we notice a slight change from 90F+ to 80 sumpin’! But sure is welcome and signals the start of more ideal outdoor season for QRP portable. So charge the batteries and pack your gear for this coming weekend!
Thanks to Rick Meyer for photo of the August gang!
Per custom and tradition, we meet up for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Sanford, FL for show ‘n tell and breakfast at 0730 ET. Great time to get to know one another and solve all life’s problems over biscuits and gravy.
By 0900 ET you will find us setting up gear in Sylvan Lake Park. We normally hang out in picnic area A unless someone else has rented it or beat us to the spot! This place has lots of space, great trees, 2 pavilions, and a bathroom. This is the start of our best season weather wise as temps and sun are a bit more friendly.
Sure hope you’ll drop by and visit. If you are a licensed ham and hanker to get on the air, we’ll share our rigs and usually have spare antennas you can try too. See you in the park or on the air around the QRP watering holes.

We have a long history of our monthly outings. Never know who or how many will show up, but we always enjoy the variety and get a lot of the world’s problems solved over breakfast. Come out and join us in the fun! Saturday August 24, 2019 is the date!
We start with breakfast at 0730 local time at the Cracker Barrel, Sanford, FL just off the I-4 / SR46 exit. This is where deep conversation, bragging and show n tell of new gadgets is the theme. It is a good way to start the day. Around 0900 you’ll find us setting up gear a Picnic Area A at Sylvan Lake Park. If that area has been reserved, we’ll either be at Area B or C, but 95% of the time we don’t have a problem staying at our normal site. Watch for soccer families and walkers as you enter the park please.
Let us hear your stories of the Flight of the Bumblebee contest and if you got out on Sunday 8/18 for the Skeeter Hunt (197 registered ops so far) we’d love to hear how things went!
While propagation has been not the best, we still manage to make contacts on CW and a few digital signals get out. Walt is normally doing DSB or SSB check-ins to his favorite nets so QRP still works.
See ya’ in the park!
